NFL Super Bowl Futures

NFL Super Bowl futures are so popular that they are usually posted at various sports betting apps the minute that the current season's Super Bowl is complete. Since hope springs eternal, that is often the time for the best NFL futures bets, but free agency and the NFL Draft can make May or later the prime time for NFL futures Super Bowl selections. You can also make NFL futures 2023 picks during this upcoming season, as those NFL future odds are adjusted as the campaign progresses.

Four of the top online sportsbooks for NFL Super Bowl futures include BetMGM, Caesars Sporstbook, DraftKings and FanDuel.

NFL Playoff Futures

With 14 teams now making it the NFL playoffs, the NFL playoff futures odds are more popular than ever, as nearly half of the clubs will qualify for the postseason. Here are the NFL futures odds 2023 edition in this area for some top teams (odds per Caesars Sportsbook).

  • Dallas Cowboys (-210 to make playoffs, +175 to miss playoffs)
  • Detroit Lions (-170 to make playoffs, +140 to miss playoffs)
  • Baltimore Ravens (-160 to make playoffs, +130 to miss playoffs)
  • Seattle Seahawks (-130 to make playoffs, +110 to miss playoffs)
  • Miami Dolphins (-115 to make playoffs, -105 to miss playoffs)

  • Cleveland Browns (+110 to make playoffs, -130 to miss playoffs)
  • New England Patriots (+250 to make playoffs, -320 to miss playoffs)
  • Los Angeles Rams (+250 to make playoffs, -320 to miss playoffs)

NFL Division Winners

The four-team divisional setup often makes NFL futures picks on division winners of the best NFL future bets. Here are the favorites for each division that you can bet NFL futures on (odds per FanDuel).

  • AFC East - Buffalo Bills (+130)
  • AFC North - Cincinnati Bengals (+125)
  • AFC South - Jacksonville Jaguars (-160)
  • AFC West - Kansas City Chiefs (-160)
  • NFC East - Philadelphia Eagles (+100)
  • NFC North - Detroit Lions (+145)
  • NFC South - New Orleans Saints (+135)
  • NFC West - San Francisco 49ers (-175)

NFL Player of the Year Futures

The NFL MVP may be the most high profile individual award, but there are many other individual honors that make some of the best NFL futures bets. Here are five ways you can bet NFL futures in the Player of the Year category.

  • NFL Offensive Player of the Year: This category winner normally goes to the non-quarterback who has the best season, so it is essentially a skill position player of the year honor. The two favorites to win this award in 2023 are wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase, who each have +1200 odds at BetMGM.
  • NFL Defensive Player of the Year: This award typically goes to the top pass rusher in the league, as only one non-pass rushing candidate has won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year since 2014 (Stephon Gilmore in 2019). The player with the best 2023 NFL futures odds for this award is Micah Parsons, who is listed with +650 odds at Caesars Sportsbook.
  • NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: This is one award that doesn't have a positional lean, as over the past 10 years four running backs, three quarterbacks and three wide receivers have claimed this honor. The NFL futures leader here is Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who weighs in at +300 odds at FanDuel.
  • NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year: Edge pass rushers have been getting the nod for this award of late, but the past 10-15 years have shown that this award's voters will grant this to defensive players from any position. The current NFL futures odds 2023 favorite here is Will Anderson, as DraftKings has him listed at +350 odds.
  • NFL Comeback Player of the Year: The player who usually wins this award is one who had to overcome some type of significant injury in order to return to the playing field. That is why Bills safety Damar Hamlin is the overwhelming favorite to win here, as all it will take is for him to be on the field in any form in order for the voters to deliver this award to him. It's why Hamlin is listed at -250 odds at FanDuel.

NFL Stat Leader Futures

We are currently in the midst of the most prolific offensive era in NFL history. That fact that makes placing an NFL futures bet on NFL stat leaders one of the most entertaining wagers you can make.

This category includes items such as who will lead the league in passing yards or touchdown passes, something that Patrick Mahomes achieved in both areas last season. You can make picks for the 2023 season now and the 2024 NFL futures odds in these categories should be posted not long after Super Bowl 58. Here are the current NFL future odds leaders in these categories (per FanDuel).

  • Passing yards - Patrick Mahomes (+400)
  • Rushing yards - Jonathan Taylor (+700)
  • Receiving yards - Justin Jefferson (+650)

NFL Futures Odds for Beginners

For those uninitiated with how NFL futures betting works, the premise is very simple, as you are wagering if a player or team will achieve the goal established by your bet. It's really just a form of NFL futures predictions that can win you cash if you get that prediction correct.

What is a Future in NFL Betting?

Unlike the standard wager types like moneyline or spread that determine the winner based on what happens in an upcoming game, most NFL futures bet types are settled based on how a player or team did based on a season-long element such as wins or yards gained. For example, if you pick the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl 58 at +600 odds (per FanDuel) and Patrick Mahomes and company win, you will receive a very good payout for that wager.

How to Read NFL Futures Odds

There are three ways that online sportsbooks list their NFL future odds, but they all are simply ways of showing you what your return will be if you make a future odds NFL pick. Here are those three ways, with an explanation of how each works.

  • American Odds: American odds are the most common method of listing NFL future odds. They have negative and positive numbers. The negative number tell you how much you need to wager to win $100, so a -110 odds bets requires you to wager $110 to win $100. A positive number tells you the amount of profit you will get with a $100 wager, so a +250 odds pick will pay out $250 in profit if you make a winning bet of $100 on it.
  • Decimal Odds: Decimal odds are widely used around the world, but aren't as common in the United States. It's too bad at some level, as decimal odds are quite easy to understand if you use a $10 wager amount as a barometer. For example, an NFL futures decimal odds bet with 1.75 odds will pay out $17.50 with a win.
  • Fraction Odds: The fastest way to understand fraction odds is to picture a $10 NFL futures wager with 3-1 fraction odds. The $10 wager is on the "1" side of that wager, so a win in this case will pay out $30. This odds type is also much more common internationally than it is in the United States.

There are online betting calculators that can help you determine the relative payouts for different odds types. This can help standardize comparisons when reviewing the odds levels at websites that don't all use the same odds type. The best of the NFL betting apps will also help with the comparisons.

Must be 21+ to participate. Terms apply.

Another thing to keep in mind is those calculators can also help you find the implied odds. For instance, a -150 American odds wager has an implied odds of 60, which means the sportsbooks believe this wager has a 60 percent chance of winning. Compare this number with what your own research says and it can help determine if there are hidden or overinflated values on a bet. It's all a part of determining which NFL odds to go with when deciding how you are going to wager.

Where to Bet on NFL Futures Odds

There are many places where you can bet NFL futures, but not all of them are created equal. Here are four of the best sportsbooks for betting on NFL futures.

1. BetMGM

BetMGM has a full range of NFL futures, with wager types including exact outcomes, straight, Top 2 and dual forecasts for every division plus the ability to bet on whether a team will finish first through fourth in its respective division. The BetMGM bonus code USATODAY has a first bet offer up to $1,000 for new customers, a deal that will provide a bonus bet refund up to $1,000 for an opening wager loss.

Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (CO,DC, IL, IN, LA, MD, MS, NJ, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY) Call 877-8-HOPENY or text HOPENY (467369) (NY) Call 1-800-327-5050 (MA) 21+ to wager. Please Gamble Responsibly. Call 1-800-NEXT-STEP (AZ), 1-800-522-4700 (KS, NV), 1-800-BETS-OFF (IA), 1-800-270-7117 for confidential help (MI), 1-800-981-0023 (PR) . In partnership with Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel. Visit BetMGM.com for Terms & Conditions. US promotional offers not available in DC, Nevada, New York, Kansas, Mississippi or Ontario.

2. Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook has 21 separate NFL futures bet categories, a list with items such as regular season MVP, the leaders in seven main statistical listings and a Super Bowl exacta wager. The Caesars Sportsbook promo code USATODAYFULL gives first time customers a first-bet offer up to $1,250 that offsets an initial bet loss with a bonus bet of equal value, up to $1,250. 3. DraftKings

DraftKings is arguably the king when it comes to a variety of NFL futures bet types, as it has dozens of wagers in many categories, including team futures, awards, player futures, player totals, season specials, division specials and more. The DraftKings promo code grants new customers a bet $5, get $150 in bonus bets instantly deal that can deliver a greater than 40-1 return regardless if your opening bet wins or loses.

Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (CO,DC, IL, IN, LA, MD, MS, NJ, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY) Call 877-8-HOPENY or text HOPENY (467369) (NY) Call 1-800-327-5050 (MA) 21+ to wager. Please Gamble Responsibly. Call 1-800-NEXT-STEP (AZ), 1-800-522-4700 (KS, NV), 1-800-BETS-OFF (IA), 1-800-270-7117 for confidential help (MI), 1-800-981-0023 (PR) . In partnership with Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel. Visit BetMGM.com for Terms & Conditions. US promotional offers not available in DC, Nevada, New York, Kansas, Mississippi or Ontario.

4. FanDuel

FanDuel could make a claim for the top NFL futures sportsbook based on volume alone, but another standout element here are rare NFL futures markets such as defensive props and exact regular season win totals. The FanDuel promo code helps new bettors with their opening wager via its No Sweat First Bet that gives a bonus bet refund of a first bet loss, up to $1,000.

Must be 21+ to participate. Terms apply.

One item of note for all these promotional deals is that each has a betting window that the first bet must settle by. If your NFL futures bet falls outside that betting window, it won't qualify for that deal, so be sure to check the terms and conditions of each deal before making your initial wager. Becoming fully informed about all the details is all part of the process when you are learning how to bet on sports.

How to Sign Up and Bet On NFL Futures Odds

Every online sportsbook has a unique user interface that is used to sign up for a new account, but every sign-up process has a few things in common that you will need to complete before you can place future bets NFL style.

The process begins by choosing and downloading a sports betting app. Then you can sign up for one of these promotional offers within that app.

During that sign up, you will be asked to provide some general personal information such as name and address that are needed to create an account. For BetMGM sign-ups, you will also need to type the BetMGM bonus code USATODAY in the bonus code box, while Caesars Sportsbook sign-ups will require the Caesars Sportsbook promo code USATODAYFULL in the promo code box.

Next up is a verification process in which you confirm that you are physically located in a state where the online sportsbook is licensed and are of legal betting age in that state. Once that is complete, you will also need to meet the minimum deposit requirement.

When those steps are complete, you will then be able to navigate the app to find the NFL betting section, as that is where the NFL futures wagers will be available.

Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (CO,DC, IL, IN, LA, MD, MS, NJ, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY) Call 877-8-HOPENY or text HOPENY (467369) (NY) Call 1-800-327-5050 (MA) 21+ to wager. Final Thoughts on NFL Futures

NFL futures can be some of the most entertaining wager types because they allow you to combine your betting skills with the league's offseason moves and in essence make NFL wagering a year-long endeavor. You can do this by using any of all of the sportsbook promo codes listed above to sign up for a new account prior to the start of the 2023 NFL campaign.

NFL Futures FAQs

An NFL futures bet is one that allows you to wager on some type of event in the upcoming NFL season. These NFL futures can include bets on team or individual achievements, or can even be on individual game lines where available.
To highlight how an NFL futures bet works, say that you think the New York Jets will win the AFC East in the 2023 NFL season. To make this wager, you simply go to the NFL futures tab in whichever online sportsbook you want to make this bet at and place your wager. If the Jets win the division title, your bet wins and you will get the profits from that wager in your account.
NFL futures can be parlayed with other NFL futures or with any type of parlay bet that is available to be made. Just go through the process of adding parlays to your betting slip and click on the NFL futures parlay that you want to include in the parlay. Keep in mind that since every leg of the parlay bet has to win in order for your bet to win that you will have to wait until the NFL futures bet has settled before your parlay wager can be declared a winner.
You can parlay NFL futures at any of the major sportsbooks. Just sign up for one of the introductory deals listed above (including BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings and FanDuel) and proceed to the NFL parlay interface once you have created a new account.
NFL futures pay out like any other bet, meaning that once your winning wager has settled, the winnings from that bet will be placed into your account shortly afterwards. These funds can then be withdrawn from your account or used to place other wagers.
NFL futures are entertaining ways to add interest to the upcoming season. They do tend to have odds levels that provide large payouts, but since they are generally low percentage plays, it's best to consider them as incidental wagers rather than a go-to for building a betting bankroll.
The first NFL futures for an upcoming season are normally posted right after the end of the Super Bowl from the previous season, so there is a long window to make NFL futures wagers. You can best benefit from this window if you do your research and compare odds at various sportsbooks in the run up to the season, as offseason moves via free agency and the draft can move the odds more in your favor.
In general, NFL futures do qualify for cashing out early, but that can depend on the cash out rules at the online sportsbook where that wager was placed. Check the house rules at your online sportsbook for more details on this.
