A man was rescued from a burning car early Saturday morning by police officers in White Settlement, a suburb 40 miles west of Dallas, Texas.

Video footage recorded by an officer's bodycam shows officers pulling out the man, who was unconscious, from the burning car wreck.

White Settlement Police Department's Chief of Police Christopher Cook, in a statement, said that the engine compartment of the vehicle caught fire after the passenger car struck a pole in the city's south side. While the driver was able to exit the vehicle safely, the front male passenger was unconscious, said the police.

Officers swiftly pulled the man from the burning car until medical personnel could arrive to treat the victim. Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment, said the police.

They are now out of the hospital said Chief Cook, in an update to USA TODAY, adding that all officers are also doing great.

“I want to highlight the heroic actions by the brave police officers who serve our community,” said Cook in the statement. “As you can see from the video, had it not been for the quick and decisive actions by police, this crash could have had a very different outcome.”

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the cause of the crash and have not ruled out the possibility that speed may have been a factor resulting in the driver losing control of the car.
