Holland America Line

This cruise line is raising prices for specialty restaurants

Cruise passengers sailing with Holland America Line may pay more for food on their next voyage. The cruise line is raising prices at several of its optional specialty restaurants beginning next month.

Lunch at the Pinnacle Grill steakhouse will increase from $15 per person to $19, while dinner will jump from $39 per person to $46. The cost for dinner at Asian restaurant Tamarind will also increase to $35 per person, up from $29, and dinner at brasserie Rudi’s Sel de Mer will cost $55 per person, an increase from $49.

“We regularly evaluate our product offerings, service experience, costs and efficiency,” a Holland America spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “To remain competitive in what we offer and continue to provide a premium product, we have adjusted restaurant cover prices which are aligned with industry competitor pricing and still offer an excellent value.”

The changes will take effect Sept. 1. For ships that are mid-cruise on that date, the costs will increase on their next voyage.

The higher prices come as other cruise lines have made similar changes in the wake of inflation and the industry's continued recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney Cruise Line raised prices for several adults-only restaurants in July, and Celebrity Cruises also recently increased its gratuity rates.
